Who We Are

Chored is an AI-powered household coordination assistant accessible via SMS and a web dashboard at chored.ai. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean Chored.

Information We Collect

We collect the mobile phone numbers of family members added by a household administrator, along with household data you provide (chores, schedules, and car bookings). Inbound SMS message content is stored to process your request and generate a reply.

If a parent sets up the Chored app on a child's own device (kids mode), we store that device's name, a push-notification token used only to deliver Chored's messages to it, and the messages exchanged in the app. No email address, password, or phone number is collected from the child.

How We Use Your Information

Phone numbers are used solely to send and receive SMS messages related to your household, and are never shared with any third party for marketing. We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do share limited website data with Meta to measure and improve our advertising, as described under Cookies & Analytics. Otherwise, data is shared only as required to deliver the service: Telnyx for SMS delivery, OpenAI for AI-generated responses, and Creem (our Merchant of Record) for payment processing. Creem receives only the information necessary to process your subscription payment — no household or SMS data is shared with Creem. We also use PostHog for website analytics, as described under Cookies & Analytics below. Each of these providers processes data on our behalf and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes. Meta is the exception: it is not our processor, and it uses the data described below for its own advertising purposes under Meta's privacy policy.

Cookies & Analytics

On our public website we use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how visitors find and move through the site so we can improve it. PostHog sets a first-party cookie and stores a matching identifier in your browser. That identifier is a random value used to recognise a returning browser across a visit — it is not linked to your name, email, or phone number unless you create an account and sign in.

This analytics data covers pages viewed, the site or campaign that referred you, clicks and similar page interactions, and general device and browser information including an approximate location derived from your IP address.

Session replay. On four public marketing pages only — the home page, pricing, subscribe, and welcome — PostHog also records a reconstruction of the page and your interactions with it. Text you type into form fields, including passwords, is masked in your browser and is never recorded. Session replay does not run on our sign-up or log-in pages, and is switched off everywhere inside the signed-in application, so your household, children's, and SMS data is never recorded.

Advertising measurement (Meta). We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API to learn whether those ads lead to sign-ups, and to help Meta show our ads to people more likely to find Chored useful. When you visit our public site, the pixel tells Meta which pages you viewed and sets Meta cookies (_fbp, and _fbc if you arrived from an ad). If you sign up or start a free trial, we tell Meta that too, along with your email address in hashed form (an irreversible scramble Meta uses to match the event to a Meta account), your IP address, and your browser's user agent. We never send Meta your phone number, your name, or anything about your household, chores, or messages. Meta may combine this with information it already holds and use it for its own advertising. You can review and limit how Meta uses it in your Meta ad preferences.

Your choices. If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK, or Canada, we ask for your consent before storing anything, and you can decline — we then do not measure your visit at all or share it with Meta, and nothing is stored in your browser. Wherever you are, you can block or delete these cookies at any time through your browser settings, and we honour your browser's “Do Not Track” setting and the Global Privacy Control signal — either one switches off advertising measurement entirely, including what we would otherwise send to Meta from our servers; the site remains fully functional without them. Analytics and session replay never run inside the signed-in application regardless of your settings. For any question about this data, or to request its deletion, email support@chored.ai.

SMS Messaging — Opt-In & Opt-Out

By providing a phone number within the Chored web application, the account administrator confirms they have obtained consent from that number's owner to receive automated SMS messages from Chored. Messages may include chore assignments, schedule reminders, and household notifications.

To opt out: Reply STOP to any message at any time. You will receive one confirmation SMS and no further messages will be sent to that number.

Message frequency varies based on household activity (typically 1–10 messages per day). Message and data rates may apply.

Data Retention

Household data is retained for as long as the account is active. SMS message logs and in-app (kids mode) message logs are automatically deleted after 90 days, and workout logs after 6 months. When you delete your account, your family and all associated data are erased.

Your Rights & Choices (United States)

Chored is intended for use in the United States. Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about your household, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Children's Privacy

Chored is designed for families and is set up and managed by a parent or guardian who acts as the account administrator. Any information about a child — such as their name, phone number, or chore activity — is provided and controlled by that adult, who is responsible for obtaining any necessary consent. Children do not create or manage accounts themselves. A child can only use the Chored app after a parent pairs their device with a single-use code; the parent can remove that device at any time, and the child's app contains no advertising or analytics. A parent or guardian may review or delete a child's information at any time from the dashboard or by contacting support@chored.ai.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are stored using Argon2 hashing. We do not store payment card data.
